St. Anastasia Cemetery has served the community of faith in Harriman, NY. for 100 Years and has been the central Catholic Cemetery for southern Orange County. Now expanding to meet the growing needs of the catholic faith community, the cemetery will incorporate a new columbarium for cremation in urnments, family estates and a memorial garden along with traditional in ground burials.
St. Anastasia Cemetery fulfills the Catholic tradition of respect for the deceased and reverence for their physical remains. Catholics believe that there is a direct relationship between Jesus’ death and resurrection and the death and resurrection of the christian. We, as Catholics believe in the resurrection of the body into eternal life. The expanded cemetery provided a dignified, peaceful and contemplative place where the mortal remains of our departed loved ones can remain entrusted to the care of the Catholic cemetarian until they are called to eternal life in the beatific vision.
We, as Catholics, have a realistic attitude toward death. It is inevitable and requires a spiritual preparation for our eventual entry into eternity. But there is also a practical side to our preparations one that gives us time to make decisions in a thoughtful manner that reflects our wishes and desires. Choosing a burial place in advance not only allows us to make the decision as to our final resting place but also relieves our family members of the task of making a decision in a time of sorrow and stress. Choosing a final resting place now allows for a thoughtful personal decision that you can make along with your family. In addition the financial hardships that often accompany the death of a loved one can be mitigated with planning. Our Catholic tradition has been to select a family burial place in a peaceful setting which reflects our Catholic faith and devotion.
Choosing a final resting place is inevitable. Often it is done at a time of sorrow and stress. However, it can be done now with a clear frame of mind. Arrangements made now can take advantage of current pricing and extended payment plans.
A decision such as selecting an internment location should be a shared decision. All too often it is the remaining spouse who must face this decision and expense alone. Making this decision now ensures that your wishes are respected. The cemetery expansion will provide for a number of internment options, both above ground and in ground. Family estates are above ground family mausoleums for families to be interred together, memorial gardens for those electing cremation, as are columbaria. Traditional internments will be available.
All pre need purchases include a portion of the purchase being allocated to endowment care. This endowment care insures that the internment site and cemetery will have funding available to care for the cemetery in the future.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who
fled to your protection,
implored your help,
and sought your intercession,
was left unaided,
Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother:
To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful!
O Mother of the World Incarnate,
despise not my petitions:
But in your clemency hear and answer me.
Amen.
